How do you deal with fear?
Do you avoid what frightens you? Jump in and worry about the details later? Analyse why you feel the fear, and systematically deal with the emotion in a logical process?
I will admit that I do all of the above.
My fear, insecurity and lack of confidence has been my constant companion. Mr Fear lurks about whispering foul nonsense in my ear, limiting me from growth, and I have even visualized it’s grotesque face towering over me declaring me stupid, crazy and inapt.
That was, until I stumbled across a self help book written by Susan Jeffers called Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway. Along with it’s workbook, I begun working through it’s pages, writing down the exercises, practicing the techniques and slowly, I learnt to feed off my fear to propel me forward.
AUSTRALIAN BLOGGERS PODCAST
When Tan ja first approached me to begin a podcast, my initial response was positive and absolute.
However, after sitting down for three hours, completing our planning, schedules and process, I felt real and genuine fear.
I had allowed Mr Fear to have a voice in my future plans.
Who do you think you are?
You are way to busy to be doing this!
You hate the sound of your own voice, why are you doing a podcast?
Who is going to listen to you anyway?
Just as well you have Tanja with you, you need all the help you can get!
Nag, nag, nag and so the little nay sayer goes on and on if you let it!
You can do this!
Focus became about the wonderful bloggers that would be interviewed and promote their expertise.
Think about the wonderful tools, tips and techniques that could be shared.
Just imagine how many people you could help and inspire.
I choose to make a difference, be helpful and discover shareable solutions, I would move past my fear and do it anyway.
